Gokyo Valley Trek

Gokyo valley trek is one of the traditional trails for trekking in Himalayas of Nepal. This trail is situated in the Everest region. Annually thousand of adventure seekers come here to discover this virgin land. From Gokyo valley we can witness the panoramic vista of charismatic mountains from north to south of Everest region. We fly to Hillary airport of Lukla from Kathmandu from where the real adventure jumpstarts. We will walk downhill through the Dudh Koshi valley in Sagarmatha national park which will ultimately lead us to Namche bazaar. Namche bazaar is beautiful Sherpa settlement situated beneath the Mt. Everest which the trading capital of this region.

Trekking in Gokyo valley showers us with this grand opportunity to witness the Ngozumpa glacier which is largest in Nepal’s Himalayas. This trail is known for the towering views of various mountains including Mt Everest (8,848m), Cho Oyu (8,156m), Lhotse (8,501m), Makalu (8,470m) which is seen clearly from Gokyo RI above Gokyo Lake. The most amazing pros of trekking in this trial is terrific view of huge ice ridge situated between Cho Oyu and Gyachung (2,922m) in Khumbu region. Gokyo is also known for the presence of high altitude lakes. This trekking trial winds around wonderful Gokyo village which is located adjoining the Khumbu.

Gokyo Valley Itinerary

Day01: From Tribhuvan International Airport you will be transferred to your hotel room. In the afternoon we will invite you to our office for briefing about the each day program. Today we will hand over your Sagarmatha National Park Permits and TIMS.

Day02: After having breakfast we will do some sightseeing which includes Pashupatinath Swoyambhunath and Boudhanath.

DAY03: Enjoy the most scenic 30minutes flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. As you reach Lukla start the Gokyo Valley Trek to Phakding via Chaurikharka and Chheplung. Overnight at Phakding (2640m).

Day04: Early in the morning after having breakfast trek to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar(3435m) via Jorsale. From Namche we can see the first glance of Everest.

Day05: Today we will acclimatize at Namche Bazaar. Today we may rest or hike through the village of Khunde and Khumjung. Khumjung is the largest village of Khumbu region. After having lunch we will hike back to Namche Bazaar.

Day06: Trek to Phortse Thanga. Early in the morning after having breakfast trek uphill to Khumjung and descends to the valley of Dudh Koshi and we will arrive to Phortse Thanga. Overnight at teahouse.

Day07: The trail passes through the middle of forest and offers the magnificent vista of Cho Oyu (8201m). Overnight at teahouse.

Day08: Trek to Gokyo Lake via Ngozumpa glacier. The whole trail is zigzag. The mountain vista seen from the Gokyo region is captivating. Further two hours climb to Gokyo RI (95350m); a small peak above the lake offers the spectacular panorama of Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu and Cholatse.         

Day09: Today we will explore the Gokyo Lake. We too will trek to Gokyo Peak which start early in the morning. The summit offers the extravagant vista of Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu. While climbing down you can enjoy the view of Gokyo Lake. Overnight at teahouse.

Day10: Trek to Dole. 4 to 5 hours trek

Day11: Trek to Namche. 3 to 4 hours Trek

Day12: Trek to Lukla. 5 to 6 hours Trek

Day13: Fly back to Kathmandu.

Day14: Departure for your onward flight.
