Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

Langtang Gosaikunda trek is one of the remote and spectacular treks in Langtang region Langtang Gosaikunda trek is a remote and spectacular valley trek to Langtang region, with the high mountain lakes at Gosaikunda. Following the Trishuli River north of Kathmandu, we travel through Trishuli Bazaar and Dhunche to Saybrubeshi, a Sherpa village located at the very edge of the Langtang National Park. We then swing east into the Langtang valley, crossing the river several times as we travel up along a gorge-like lower section of the valley. We pass through oak and rhododendron forests and even cross glacial moraine on our way to the Tamang village of Langtang. We Start our trek from Syaphru beshi to lama hotel and then we reach to Kyanjin Gompa within three days of our trek commenced Kyanjin Gompa, we go for surroundings visits such as Monastery, Cheese factory and Sherpa village. The holy lake Gosaikunda is sacred among both the Hindus and the Buddhists. The lake is visited every year by thousands of visitors during the full- moon night in August. Langtang Valley is beautiful valley in the world. You will keep walking through variety of tiny village and track of thick forest. The trek becomes beautiful walk through Rhododendron and pine trees where you will see honey hunter animal, langur Monkey (Seto badar) and waterfalls we will continue walking to reach Gosaikunda. On the way you will pass through Lauribinayak. From here you will have Fantastic view of Langtang Region

Goshaikunda trek lies in Langtang region. Gosaikunda, the holy lake has gained its reputation among both the Hindus and the Buddhists. The lake is visited every year by thousands of visitors during the full- moon night in August. Hindu mythology says- when the God churned the primordial ocean to produce elixir of eternal life, the poison was also produced along with the elixir. To save the universe from this poison, Lord Shiva drank it. Hence, the throat of Lord Shiva is still blue due to the effect of the poison. To cool down his burning throat, Lord Shiva struck his trident into the rock creating three springs which ultimately resulted in the formation of beautiful lakes. Finally, Lord Shiva drank the water of the lakes and got rid of the pain. Hence, in this process, the lake Gosaikunda was formed.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 01: We will meet you at the Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer  to  hotel, had time for rest up after your long flight, we  will be invited to visit our office for a briefing about your journey.after that we will  check your equipment and make easy the processing of other necessary  things  such as Langtang National Park Permits and  TIMS (Trekking information management system)

Day 02: Sightseeing of Kathmandu valley:We will explore the Hindu temple at Pashupatinath (World Heritage site) & the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath. We will  explore Swyambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple, Evening meeting with your trekking guide, have general conservation before Departure for  Adventure trekking

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi (1470m) we head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vista to Syabru Besi passing through Dhunche. While passing along the road at the bank of Trishuli River we catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, terraces and green hills. As we pass through Dhunche we feel as if we are heading towards deep land. At the same time, we notice that the road is still under construction

Day 04: Trek to Lama Hotel (2470m)The first part of the trail crosses through Bhote Koshi and follows the Langtang Khola. The trail is slowly ascent up to Bamboo passing through Landslide. Afterwards, we trek ascends gently to Rimche (2400m.) through Bamboo, which lies at the bank of Langtang Khola. we can have lunch at this place if we like. After the lunch our trail is level to the Lama Hotel. En route you could see red pandas, monkey & bear if we are lucky

Day 05: Trek to Langtang village (3430m As we continue climbing there are occasional glimpses of Langtang Lirung between the trees. At Ghora Tabela (3000m), the trail emerges from the forest. Once there was a Tibetan resettlement project here, but now here is a Nepalese army post though it has no permanent residents. The trail climb gently, the valley widens, passing a few temporary settlement used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer months. There is a monastery, which you can visit shortly before arriving at the village of Langtang, the headquarters of the Langtang National Park. The houses of Langtang and its neighboring villages are of the flat-roofed Tibetan style, surrounded by stone walls enclosing fields of buckwheat, potatoes, wheat, turnips and barley

Day 06: Trek  to Kyangjin (3870m) The trail climbs slowly through small villages and yak pastures as the valley opens out further and the views become more wide. After crossing several small streams and moraines, the trail reaches the settlement at Kyangjin. Here there is a small monastery and a government-operated cheese factory. We  will arrive at Kyangjin by lunch time allowing time to acclimatize and explore the village. It is a dramatic setting, with snow-covered peaks surrounding we in all directions such as Langtang Lirung, Ganjala peak, Tserko ri.

Day 07: Rest day at Kyangjin Gompa and excursion around Today is to rest and explore the village. we can visit the monastery and the cheese factory, walk up the moraine to see the impressive ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung or ascend Kyangjin Ri (4350m), directly behind the village, for a breath-taking panorama of the Langtang peaks.

Day 08: Trek  to Lama Hotel (2470m)  From Kyangjin we retrace our route, following the Langtang Khola to Langtang village and on to Ghora Tabela. After lunch, slowly steep drop to Lama Hotel 

Day 09: Trek to Thulo Syabru (2260m.) The beginning of the trails is gently descent up to Landslide and then goes steeply up to Thulo Syabru. En route we could see red pandas, monkeys and various species of birds. Thulo Syabru is one of the wonderful villages. From where we can enjoy the amazing land feature and the magnificent nature with splendid views of Ganesh Himal (7110m.), Langtang Himal and its ranges.

Day 10: Trek  to (Chandan Bari)sing gompa (3250m.)The trails from Thulo Syabru to Foprang Danda, follows steeply climb path passing through Dursagang, along with the view of Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, Tibetan Mountain and oak, Hemlock, firs forests. Now the path gently ascend for some distance and then follows flat level to Sing Gompa. There is a well-managed local cheese factory and a Buddhist Monastery. If time permits, we can relax at place which is recommended for having excursion in and around Sing Gompa as it provides panoramic view, exciting nature and a walk in and around Yak Cheese factory.

Day 11: Trek  to Gosaikunda (4361m.)via Lauribinayak.The first part of the trails emerges gently climb up to Lauribinayak and the top of Lauribinayak gives us an exotic feeling. Then the trails steeply ascend all the way to Gosaikunda. we follow a rugged trail with vivid views; to the west Himal chuli(7893m) Manaslu range (8156mm), Ganesh Himal range(7406m), Tibetan peaks and Langtang Lirung. On a clear day, even the Annapurna range can be seen rising up behind and to the north across the valley is Langtang Lirung. we pass a few huts in the high pasture of Laurebinayak, cross a small ridge and have our first views of the holy lakes. There are about a dozen lakes in the Gosainkunda hand basin, the main three being Saraswatikunda, Bhairabkunda, and Gosainkunda. According to thelegend, Gosainkunda was created by Shiva when he pierced a glacier with his trident to obtain water to slake his thirst after having swallowed a poison that threatened to destroy the world

Day 12: Trek to Sing Gompa The trails descend all the way to Sing Gompa passing Lauribanayak with magnificent mountain views and forests.

Day 13: Trek to Dhunche The first part of the trails slide down through pine, silver oak and rhododendrons forests with marijuana plants up to we cross suspension bridge over the Sing Gompa Stream. Now the path stretches at flat level through some human residence and mineral water factories upto Dhunche. It is a small town and headquarters of Rasuwa district.

Day 14: Drive from Dhunche to Kathmandu by local bus: It is a pleasant drive back to Kathmandu,it will take 8/9 hours.

Day 15: Transfer to international airport for your final flight departure.
