Govt set to lift restriction for foreigners in Upper Manaslu

The government is doing the necessary groundwork to lift restrictions for foreigners in Upper Manaslu area in Gorkha district.Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai had instructed officials to lift the restriction about a fortnight ago, following repeated requests by locals and tourism entrepreneurs.

Tourist arrivals grow 14.3% in April

Tourist arrivals to Nepal via air increased by 14.3 percent in April, compared to arrival figures of the same period last year. According to a press release issued by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), a total of 59,415 tourists visited the country during the month.

TAAN conducts search for missing Ukrainians

Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) and TAAN Pokhara Chapter on May 5 jointly conducted search for three Ukrainian trekkers who were swept away by a flash flood in Seti River at Kharapani near Pokhara.

TAAN delegation meets Minister of State Shah

A delegation of Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) led by President Mahindra Singh Thapa recently met Minister of State for Tourism and Civil Aviation Jwala Kumari Shah and apprised her of the problems facing trekking sector. Handing over a 27-point charter of demands, TAAN strongly urged the government to introduce a one-window system for TIMS card distribution through TAAN. The association has long been demanding that the government introduce one-window system for TIMS cards distribution, arguing that it would help discourage illegal operation in trekking business.

TAAN developing new routes in Taplejung, Lower Manaslu

As a part of identifying and promoting new trails, Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) is developing new trekking trails in Taplejung and Lower Manaslu region. It had deployed two separate teams to explore the areas last month. Both the teams have already returned to Kathmandu.
