Overview And Highlights

YamdrokYamtso is Among three largest lakes in Tibet YamdrokYamtso is one of them. This lake is located about 100 kilometers south west of Lhasa. This lake surrounded by many mountains and fed by many stream is elongated up to 72 kilometers and has an outlet at its far western end. Local here believe that YamdrokYamtso is the transformation of the goddess. This fan shaped lake covering the area of 648 square kilometers has a spreaded south and narrowed north. West and north of the lake has two mountains covered by snow throughout the year. The lake encompasses number of island of different size which are covered with Juniper on which wild Pigeons gather in flocks, the island also serve as the natural grazing land and among them one is an old fort or castle called PedeDzong. This lake also provide habitat for fishes which have delicate skin and tender fleshed small fish which are very delicious on consuming. Every year from April to October fishes are transported from here to Lhasa. It is the largest lake in southern Tibet and it is said if the water here dries Tibet no longer will be inhabitable.YamdrokYamtso is one of the four holy lakes in Tibet. The other such holy lakes are Lhamo La tso, Namtso and Mansarovar. Everyone pay their visit here from Dalai Lama to Local people. This lake is also known for the presence of Samding Monastery which the only Tibetan monastery headed by a female re-incarnation. This lake also has a power station constructed in 1996 near the Pai Ti village at the western end of the lake. This is the largest power station in Tibet.

Kathmandu/Lhasa ( By Flight) Morning we will fly for an hour over the Himalayan Range to the capital of Tibet. (Lhasa) . Lhasa at an elevation of (3665m) is lies on the north bank of Kyichu River. Lhasa in Tibetan means (Place of the Gods) the homeland of the Dalai Lama., On arrival we will meet local representative and transferred to hotel. (60 km/ 1 hr). Full day rest in the afternoon to acclimatize. Overnight at hotel.

Potala Palace, this legendary palace built atop a solitary hill is identical with Tibet by the first foremost king Songtsen Gompa.Norbulingka meaning Treasure Park covers an area of around 350000 sq.m & is measured to be the biggest man made garden in Tibet. After sight seeing we will be transferred to hotel for Overnight.

Lhasa After having breakfast full day sightseeing of Sera Monastery, Jokhang Monastery, Barkhor Market. Sera Monastery, 5 Kms north of Lhasa, Sera scenery is one of Lhasa's prettiest monasteries. Many monks resided here & was nearly extinguished by the Chinese. Jokhang Temple, situated in the heart of Old Lhasa, it houses Tibet's most prized religious artifact, a golden Shakyamuni Buddha which was brought as a gift by the Chinese Princess Wen Cheng on the occasion of her wedding to the Tibetan King, Songtsen Gompo. Barkhor Market place, which is the religious and social focus of Lhasa. After Sight seeing we will be transferred to hotel for Overnight.

Yamdrok Lake- the sacred lake Yamdrok Yumtso, one of the three largest lakes of Tibet, lies about a hundred kilometer's' distance to the southwest of Lhasa. The surface of the lake, with its fathomless depth, covers some six hundred-square kilometers. To the interior of the lake ten or so hilly islands stand independently one from the other which give homes to flocks of wide ducks. Fish in the lake is plentiful and tasty for diet.
